‘18 800 engine coolant leak

Hello,
have a coolant leak coming out of the mag side from behind the flywheel/stator. I’m thinking water pump shaft seal but what other options are there? Cylinder seals? Should the crank seal be holding and I’m looking for at a full tear down/rebuild. Takes 4 or so psi to get it to leak, at least out the crank seal..

engine has 2100 miles runs perfect.

I had the same problem. Check your stater wire casing rubbing on the aluminum hose. It wore a hole in the hose and was leaking down the wire casing into the stater. I have found this starting to do this on one of my other machines to. Hello Polaris.

I had a similar thing happen with the aluminum hose coming from the thermostat ended up patching it with jb weld until I have time to get it warrantied

damn! Yep that is it! stator loom was rubbed through and even down through the wire insulation and bare copper showing. Leak was completely hidden from view running down the inside of the loom.
thanks a ton and hope someone else reads this and saves some headache.

Yes at this point everyone needs to go look at that wire and see if it’s rubbing. A little zippy tire goes a long way. Be interesting to see how many are actually rubbing. Amazing that casing is that strong to rub a hole in the aluminum.

Wow, that is incredible that wire can rub a hole through the coolant pipe!
It's hard to tell exactly where this is from the pics, but I'm guessing just above the recoil cover?

Yes above the recoil cover. Follow the coolant line back from the head/thermostat on the recoil side and you’ll see where they cross paths. Was amazed. Thanks again, seriously was about ready to yank the motor.

Thank you for the extra pics, definitely helps show where the issue is!

Seems like most guys are zip tying the wire to the coolant line, but isn't them rubbing what is causing the issue? I'm thinking some rubber or vinyl hose wrapped around the coolant line, then the zip tie would prevent them chafing against each other.

Just hauled mine apart ...chafed the aluminum pipe on the oil pump ...kept feeding it water to nurse it out of the backcountry this evening...
