Default Options for broke case???

860 went down...looks like a piece of case broke off(perhaps due to detonation????) and got up in cylinder??? Can case be fixed if this is all that is wrong??? Thanks for any thoughts.

Real bummer, you will have to split the case and inspect it. How does your connecting rod bearing feel? Perhaps it smacked it? Odds low that the casting just fractured off but you never know.

If it looks like it just broke off... And no cracks, I'd personally throw a weld bead on it and re use.

Det wouldn’t cause a piece of case to break off. Prolly a piece of piston and or cylinder skirt broke off and went through case. Take mono block off and have a look. Let us know

Send the whole thing to indy dan.
He can salvage the cases (weld and line bore)

Or look for another shortblock.

Fyi detonation takes out piston skirts and rod bearings.
Siezed rod bearing (or losing pieces of one) hammers pistons.

Looks like some pieces processed through your bottom and top end.

Indy Dan if keeping it or local welder if selling.
