Any track with 1.25" or larger lugs will be an upgrade however the real improvement comes with increasing the footprint(longer track) as the 340 is limited so we need to rely on flotation rather than track speed........

So with 1.25” i wouldn’t have any issues with fitting? If I went to the 1.5” would I have to modify? I think I’m going to stick with the 121 for now since he only weighs 65lbs.

According to other members a 1.25" lug is the biggest you can install with the factory drivers (9 tooth). That said you really need to measure the clearance between your existing track & tunnel before you make any changes.

FWIW, Devilmanak installed a 1.75" track with 8 tooth drivers on his machine but said it was tight. Thread here: https://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433969

We installed a 1.75"(2.52 pitch) track on our '96 Indy Lite with 7 tooth drivers & there was plenty of clearance. Probably could have even squeezed a 2" lug in that machine with the 7 tooth drivers.....

Stock gears should be fine for now.

I think you can add a little more tension in the secondary by moving the spring to the next hole if you need it to rev a little more at engagement.

The 121" X 1.25" track will be an improvement but not a huge one IMO.

I can respect if you are on a budget but just make sure you calibrate your expectaions accordlingly. If the riding terrain is mostly flat with little fresh / deep snow, the 121" choice will be fine. If you want spend time on some beginner hills with moderate deep snow the rider will be frustrated(& you too).

My 2 cents....

I think I’m going to try the 121 Predator 1.25 for now. Should be huge upgrade from what he has now. You think I’ll be ok with stock gearing?

Check out the thread I posted above.

Devilmanak used 121" to 136" extensions on his 340 track swap. They are a different P/N than what the older Indy Lites use. The details are in the thread.

Do they make rail extensions for the edge 121?

From what I gathered he used extensions off a edge for his lite. Not sure if they make extensions for all edge skids. SLP didn’t know for 121

Rail extensions P/N as per Devilmanak:

"77-210 for 2000 Indy 340 121-136"

You will note in his thread that the 1.75" track rubbed the tunnel where it went over the rear idler wheels so he installed different drop brackets to gain additional clearance.

Probably would be a good idea to PM him as there are clearly differences between the Indy Lite chassis / skid & the Indy 340.
