Default Max 8000 RPM with sled on the stand

I'm having a problem with my sled not revving past 8000 RPM (2012 PRO RMK 163).

I have the correct weights (Carls Clutch Kit) in for elevation, good compression (13.1 head), cleaned exhaust valves, injectors last season and changed the fuel filter.

Even if I put the sled on the stand it will not rev past 8000 rpm. I had the shop install a 280 track last season and never had a chance to ride it is the only thing that changed.

I would have thought it would over rev on the stand.

Thanks

Any info? Can it be a TPS issue?

Miles on primary clutch? last time rebuilt? Weight bushings in good shape?

Because of the nature of torque sensing secondary clutch, sometimes you will not see full rpm because of lack of load.

Are you snapping throttle open or easing into the higher rpm load? Sometimes if you creep up on max rpm you will pull more when running on stand versus pinning the sled wide open.

With the current clutching setup that is installed, did you ever see 8200 rpm?

It has not been reaching past 8000 RPM since at rebuild around 1000 miles and that's about how many miles on the clutch as well.

I dived into the TPS and found the base voltage was very at 0.731V.

I adjusted it to 0.700V so will try again.

What was it running last time on the snow?

Areas to check:

old clutch springs
primary clutch bushings
track tension
tps
fuel quality deteriorates over the summer
plugged exhaust or air intake (mice love nooks and crannies in the sleds)

It didn’t run very well last season as well when it was on the snow. Clutches are off to Indy Speacialties for a rebuild, the last item I had to check was the TPS.

don't run your sled on a track stand at full throttle it is not safe !!!
you probably won't see max rpm on a stand because the clutches are up shifting to fast due to no load on the track , do you tuning on the snow ,you will get better results
