Default 165 or 154?

So I just seen that the 2017 165" summit x is 5.3" longer than the 2017 154". With a 3.5" track pitch that means you get 1 more lug on the ground. Is the added weight/length really worth the extra lug? You will lose a bit of track speed so really are you gaining anything? Longer and more weight means you will lose flickability, but not much. I currently ride a 2015 154". I love it in the mountains and it climbs with the suspension setup right. I'm just wondering if I went to the 165 if it would be worth it. What would your choice be and why?

Look into all of this a little bit more. This track is all new so the spacing in the lugs is different. Even with the added length I bet there is less lugs than the previous sleds. Ride one to find out. I willing to bet these things perform. The new track is lighter so when You say less track speed you are right if the track were heavier but this new track is actually lighter.

I think it is a bummer Ski Doo is not in a hurry to flood the dealers with demos so we can decide. I am really concerned that being that the 165 is about the same length as the current 174, the 165 is going to handle more like a 174(ferry boat). The 850 154 is much closer to the length of the current 163 sled. Makes me wish I could try a 154. I am taking Tony's word for it though and spring checked a 165. I am still nervous about it...

I new 154 will climb right up there with the old 163 and the new 165 will climb right up there with the ol 174.

You'd be happy with the new 154 but ever since I went 163 I don't plan on going back down.

The 165 is for my wife. I would get the 154 if it was for me. Anyone that says you can't notice any difference is wrong. The extra length is in the front. Skinz like front so I'm guessing they won't ride as long as the 174 in some cases. If you rode 154's before, it's a no brainer. If you rode 162 before it could go either way because my bet is the new 154 beats the old 163 and the 165 beats the 174. Shorter and goes farther is a win win to me.

After climbing steeper stuff this weekend with my 153" I'm pretty sure my next sled will be the mid 160s range (it might be the new summit...). That little extra bit simply prevents the sled from wheeling over on you at the steepest last bit of climbs.

Default track length

If you plan on a Big Bore or Turbo 165" for sure! Not to mention, the motor has been moved back in the chassis with no major changes to the rear skid. I cant imagine this chassis being anymore planted then the XM in the front.

The 146 is not in the new chassis. Only the new chassis and new motor got the new track.

It's funny because in 2015 they made a 146 summit XM then in 2016 they moved the 146 into the renegade backcountry. Now in 2017 the summit XM 146 is back. They also still have the renegade back country in 146

I have always had the 153,154, or 155, and have always said that is all I will ever have due to fun factor. Well this winter my old man bought a 174 and I took it on a trip with at least 3 ft of fresh snow, that changed my mind. I ordered a 165.
