primary spring rubbing in clutch

After replacing yellow white pri spring last week I have noticed that there are some wear marks on the outside of the spring. Paint has been stripped/wore off on a few of the coils. Is it possible that my spring is binding in the clutch somewhere during the shift?

The spring will bind and rub in the cup of the primary.
Below is an easy fix for the problem.
