My question is:
Is the reverse lever supposed to remain out in the reverse position. If it is
what holds the lever out. I've looked at the schematics but without a operating manual I'm not sure.
Its my wifes sled and I want to make sure it working correctly.
Right now I'm holding the lever out with my left hand and operating the throttle with my right which doesn't seem right.

im600 reverse

It should stay in reverse on it's own, check the adjustment of the linkage, it sounds like the linkage adjustment is too long. AC uses a gauge which is inserted in the bottom of the chaincase to check the linkage travel from forward to reverse. It can be done without the tool with vernier calipers but you need to know the measurement. An alternate way is to compare another sled or remove the chaincase cover and measure the travel of the gear. I wouldn't use reverse till it's fixed or you risk damaging the gears.
