Which aftermarket rear skid cleans the snow out the best?

Currently running the stock skid on my 800 XP, but I don't like how much snow gets packed into the skid. The extra weight is crazy. Is there an aftermarket skid that cleans the snow out better? Any video or pics?

I have the KMOD w/Raptors and always have other riders comparing how much snow there skids have compared to mine. I think any of the after market mountain skid that are all powder coated will do good. Fred

I havnt seen a skid not get packed if the snow is wet/heavy. Dry fluff they stay much cleaner. Mild track porting/Polaris style track helps evacuate snow.

The two that I see consistantly drop the snow out are timbersled and K Mod. both are very simple with little to hold snow. You can actually crawl through the Timberslaed skid, Its that opened up. Even if packed up when coming to a stop as soon as you hammer down it falls out.. I recall seeing different stock sleds weighed after riding and the Pro collected 100 pounds of snow. Thats just crazy

No... watching a propaganda film & believing it... THAT's crazy!! :p:p:p

hahaha.

Mild track porting will make more difference than what skid you have IMO.

Just spent the last few days riding with both of my 146's, one ported, one not... buddy of similar style & skill... unreal how much difference there is.

Porting tool: $25. Skid: $1800. Just sayin ;)

I hear Felker's has a fix for the holey problem ya got there sir! :face-icon-small-ton

The beauty of the Felker mod is you get the best of both worlds, they still allow snow to escape through the porting yet act like a closed track for flotation. This was very true apparent when doo started over porting tracks in 07

If you do mild porting... snow escapes, but it doesn't change flotation. I can do a bit more than this & water skip for days.

Exactly..Flappers were designed after 07 when doo came out with the huge ports in the tracks. The best ported track doo ever made was the 06 tracks

The weighing I saw was done on all 3 brands of mt. sleds by Snow west magazine. I feel it was pretty true in the results. I bet you own one of those that came in heavy ..lol
