Ok So I'm a fat kid I'm 6'0 I weight about 310 without gear on :pizza:, I live in the northeast (Maine) and primarily ride backcountry.. Nothing super technical but we do get deep deep powder some years especially up toward Canada,,, well im lookin into a new axys pro rmk I'm coming off a 2015 m8000 153 and Im at the point where I'm wondering if I should go 163,, while I do get in some steep and deep im wondering if the longer track is gonna be noticeable and or worth it? Good or bad? Maybe I should be lookin at a 155 3"? Any input from other big riders is much appreciated

I'm 5-11 205 and ride a 163 all back country. The 155 does wheelie a little easier and is easier to make those technical maneuvers, but I love my 163 on deep days. You can definitely notice the flotation. If I did it again I would go 163 for sure.

I agree with the 163 (162), I am 6'3" 265 with nothing... Now a 155 will still to fine though with the extra track speed the Axys has.

I think the next decision would be 2.6" or 3". Sounds like maybe a 163 2.6 would be good for you.

Even at 195 lbs I sometimes think the 163 would be nice. The deep days you are going to trench. I would do 163 if I were you. I've stuck with the 155 for my type of riding, but big boys need love too right?

Does the 163 have a full length cooler? Stays cool on trail with the scratches?blioe I said sometimes we ride the trail for an hour to our riding spots.. On my 15 m8 I had the short cooler and on rough packed trails it was almost like I needed two sets of scratchers lol :juggle:

Yes, but it does not have the front bulkhead cooler like the SKS. I run a 3" 162 on the trail a bunch and does fin as longs as the snow is not rock hard. Also the good rear snow flab makes a big difference so you may look into that.

The 2.6 does a better job than the 3" on hard pack

Ya I think I'm going to get the 163 2.6", I kinda want to try the quick drive aswell I read about the 3" being chain,,, but there's a dealer close to me that has a 2016 snowcheck red with pidd gps and walker Evans shocks. They want 13,400 is that's a decent price? Even for a left over? It's ticketed for like 15400

163" for the last two years. 6-1 and 190# absolutely loved it. Switching to the 155" this year and I was really torn. Trying it just to try it. Can't say enough about the 163" though.

I've had them all outside of a 174 and the 162/3 is my favorite. 6'2" 215 and it just floats so well, helps to hold a line on the hill, etc. That includes stock, turbo and big bore versions... no matter a 3" in 160 length is the best all around for someone over 200+ IMO. Best of luck, love to try a 174" at some point!

Awesome thanks for the input guys I appreciate it, like I said I'm in Maine and don't due any super technical riding or crazy mountain chutes so I think the 174 would be a little over kill for me even being a heavy guy 174 doesn't sound fun when you have to turn it around haha,, im usually riding trees, backcountry, meadows, and ditch banging anything I can,, we get some good snow but not quite as deep and fluffy as the stuff out west I'm thinking a 163 2.6 is exactly what I need for my style

My next question would be what's the best power gains cause I know it's gonna struggle a bit with me+gear and extra gas,, I was looking at a ti can, pipe, and pcv,,,, maybe even a bd sidekick if I wanted to go all out and void the warranty? Haha

Slp pipe and can will be your best power gain for the buck plus you get some weight loss while youre at it. Living in Maine I'd never consider putting a snail on a sled. I love the stock gearing but being another 130 lbs heavier than me a gear down might help you out.
