I propose creating a single stickied thread in each manufacturer forum (or model subforum if that is the route taken) that contains a list of links to the "informative" threads. That way, they don't drop off into obscurity a year later. Then, after the latest and greatest come out, the guys who run the "old iron" can find the good info that's been posted a lot more easily.
Every so often, when it's apparent that another thread has really good info for people to learn from, a mod can edit it into the list.
This would save a pile of searching because some of those threads start out with innocuous titles like "Need help getting transfer out of the new '08 skids...."
