New To Me 01 RMK 700

Hey guys,

I'm about to trade for my first sled and was hoping for some input from experienced sledders. It's an 2001 RMK 700 with some tasteful mods. Risers, stainless lines, gold finger, new heated grips, new steering rods, stiffer clutch, slp pipe and a boost bottle that isn't installed. He's also mentioned it has a premix mod but that to complete it, engine work must be done so he's keeping both the oil injection and premix. Does anyone know if that sounds right?

Here's a few pics, if anyone has any input, suggestions on things I should be looking at please let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Here is my opinion on the pre-mix and oil injection question. On that model year the injection pump injected oil into two places. #1: check valves in the upper case lubricating the crankshaft end bearings. #2: on the engine side of the slide on the carburetors, lubing the cylinders and pistons. The individual probably removed and plugged the lines routing to the carbs and left the lines going to the case. If that is what has been done there is probably caps on the brass check valve nipple on each carb and two lines on the oil pump are probably plugged. The engine mods talked about are probably drilling the upper case half near the end bearings to let mixed fuel get into the oil valley that the pump is oiling now. Hope this helps.

I have that same sled. Burns a lot of oil they the pull injection system but in turn it runs great and had been super reliable to me. That alone has kept me from messing with it. It's a good sled just seems dumb to premix and oil inject at the same time.

yeah if you pick it up take it back to stock on the oiler setup for what polaris blue costs these days it would be wasteful to try this setup..... things to check on the sled before riding the sled 1. chain case oil and chain tension. 2. motor mounts they like to tear. 3. grease all the zerks on the chassis amazing how much a touch of grease will help.... and think hard about having the clutches balanced..

I have a 2000 RMK 700 and I love that thing! 700 motors have been known to be one of the most bulletproof motors ever produced by Polaris. Im going on 4000 miles and have not had a problem with it, and it still runs strong. Should be a good sled!

I must agree on the longevity of the 700 bb twins My 01 has about 3900 on it and my 2003 is about 8,000ish both on the original bottom ends with one top end in the 01 and two top ends on the 2003 (neither popped just did it to keep them fresh):face-icon-small-coo
