1998 Summit 670X. Not modified, looks like the typical blue/yellow sled. 136" track length and has 3k miles. It is for sale here in Kremmling, Colorado and the guy is asking $1800. Seems a tad high for a 12 year old sled with high miles. Prolly needs a rebuild but i can do that for cheap.

Thinking that it would be a good cheap sled for the wife. It'll do fine in the deep snow. I had one years ago and loved it. Just don't have any experience with pricing for the older sleds.

I'd say around $1500 max. I hope her throttle thumb is in good shape cause pulling those old round slide 44's is a workout but you get used to it.

I have three 1997 Summits, 2-670s and a 500. Two years ago I paid $900 each for one of the 670s and the 500, and $1500 for the other 670, which was in excellent condition. I've seen a few here in the northwest for sale, and they range from $800-$1500. One dreamer wanted $2300.

I paid $1400 for mine with a fairly low miles 98`670HO motor last year.

I`m sure you can buy one cheaper now. My wifes is new to sledding and think the 670 is to snappy for here, says she don`t like the front end in the air, LOL. so I guess she has to get used to a sled on the Cat 580 she likes that one better for learning.

Sounds like some people got some good deals. Those 670's were about as solid as they come.

I had two of them at one time. Just sold the 95 back in March and still have the 99 for my wife and kids as needed (1-2 times per season).

I can say first hand, the 99, with around 3500 miles, still ran as hard as the exact same sled with 1300 miles. Both bought new the same day, same dealer, and rider weights nearly identical. Sleds ran dead even when new too.

Another local guy has over 7500 miles on his stock 670 (97 or 98) and never touched the engine, still running strong.

I've got a 99 670X with about 2900 miles on it and I wouldn't let it go for a penny less than 2100. Maybe that is why I still have it. Oh well it is paid for and sits in the garage for free, and it makes a great backup sled and a third sled to take freinds riding that have never gone sledding before. The only problem is that after about 2 hours on the old 99 I end up letting them ride the REV and I ride the 99 because on one of those old s chassis the newbies smile usually turns to a frown after 2 hours. Put them on the REV for the rest of the day and they are hooked.

I have 98 670X and I have about $1700 with new wisecos +1mm and rebuilt crank into it. I bought it blown up at about 3000 miles. I am a mechanical engineering student and for practice I did the fatigue calculations on a standard cast aluminum alloy similar to what the stock pistons are made of. Assuming hard riding, 1 million cycle design criteria with a factor of safety around 1.2 the piston skirts and 99% reliability will start to fail around 3000 miles. So at 3000 miles 1% will have failed already (there are many other factors that can decrease the life a pistion other than physical stress i.e. extra ordinary thermal stress, detonation, mods)

Most 670 Xs around Wyoming go for $2000 running. 1800 isn't a bad price if the sled has been ridden easy it could double the lifetime the pistions.
