Ok Ok……I know the 800 VES was fun but it is time to update my IQR into the some new technology. My 800 BOC VES conversion will be forsale so if you are interested, pm me as it must go. :beer;

The list of add-ons includes the following

800 CFI
New IQR a-arms 05-08style (still looking, anyone have a new set?)
Custom airbox
Custom pipe
Power addiction motor mount
Power addiction head
Some sort of tuning module, still cannot decide.
Polaris gripper skis
08 RMK fuel tanks
09 boss seat for 2010 RMK (possibly for sale)
Ez-ryde 151” rear skid
Fox evol X ski shocks
Custom pipe (with help from my good pall Denny):beer;

This is the current sled

Ok so now comes the technical crap where I think aloud as I type so bear with me. After many extensive phone calls to arguably the best educated snowmobilers around such as Rick from the Cooke city Exxon, Brad at Power Addiction, Mark at CMX, Denny, and Eric (mountainhorse), I have come to several conclusions.

1. My 08 RMK tank I am picking up on Friday will not work very well because the fuel pump will interact with my steering post….CRAP..so that $400 boss seat I bought 4 months ago….its for sale!

2. It will be cheaper for me to buy a new 2009 snowmobile, rob the parts that I need, and sell the rest. IT might not sound like it but I could easily rap up $5000 in this engine if I buy it new (engine-$2800,clutch-$450,fuel pump $300,exhast valve solenoids $170x2, ETC, it adds up FAST).

3. From this sled I will rob the following parts
800 CFI engine
ECU
Complete snowmobile wiring harness
Gauge cluster
Gripper skis
Possibly the track
Fuel pump
Possibly the seat

The rest will shortly be for-sale either piece by piece or as a somewhat rolling chassis. (PM me)

Therefore, now I am in the process of selling my 1968 2wd chevy truck and 2004 KTM 300 EXC dirt bike to purchase a new sled. I have found several and I am at the negotiating part of the deal. I plan to purchase the sled with in the next 7 days so look forward to more questions and pictures soon.

So my questions so far are:

Will the 08 tank and 09 fuel pump work with the IQR or should I sell my set up and buy the trail tank and get a flat pump? I am VERY confused as what to do so any insight is greatly appreciated!

SR_Erick on the forums here built one...

My Father and I started building this sled in the fall of 2008 and completed it early winter of 2009. It started out as a brand new 600 RR service chassis and went from there. You can see the whole write up of the build process here with pictures and information: http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/topic/88949/display.aspx

As for the details of the sled...

-IQ race chassis with integrated RMK cooling system and snow evacuation running boards
-Custom footrests
-Consumer IQ front suspension using 130# springs
-IQ race rear skid with 136 inch Ice Age rails, offset for 8 inch rear wheels
-136 inch Camoplast Cobra track (1.35 inch lugs)
-Fox Zero Pro shocks all around
-RMK new style large (11.5 gallon) tank and seat (mounts directly in tunnel slots)
-800 CFI, fully fuel injected (fuel pump in tank), oil injected with two quart oil tank
-Full instrumentation (speedo, tach, etc) all completely working
-Full SLP exhaust fitted to the chassis, ceramic coated.
-Custom airbrushed hood

Again, lots of fabricated and custom pieces, truly a one of a kind trail / ditch banging machine. You'll find only this level of customization in all out mountain machines.

I put roughly 400 to 500 miles on the sled throughout winter. If you're interested, please reply, email (erick@snowmobilefanatics.com) or give me a call (218-686-6760) and we'll chat.

$10,500 or best offer

Located in NW Minnesota, 30 miles north of Thief River Falls.

Many, many photos of the build, etc here: http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/gallery/erick/directory/678/display.aspx

Can you post underhood pics of your sled as well? And what was the hardest thing to do? Any tips? Big Problems?

What tank/fuel pump/seat combo did you do?
How hard was it to fit the oil tank in?
Any thing you would do differently than your build?
How long did it take to do all the work?

By the looks of Erics pics the steering post doesnt come anywhere near the fuel pump in the tank.

He also rebuilt the whole steering bracket, tank mounts, and other things. Look into his work on the link provided in the sight. It looks VERY extensive.

1. My 08 RMK tank I am picking up on Friday will not work very well because the fuel pump will interact with my steering post….CRAP..so that $400 boss seat I bought 4 months ago….its for sale!

When we talked...I said that you will need to fit the tank in place and see wat kind of fit issues you might have... with the TrailTank.net 11 gallon tank coming out, it might make for a much cleaner install wihout having to get all "funky" with scabbing on a RMK console the IQR, plus, the ergos and "step over" on the tank/seat combo with your aggressive riding style might be better met with the IQR tank. A 2005 4-bar 900 RMK Pul/flange assy would work well in a IQR tank.

Also, as CRF118r pointed out... the tunnel IS awesome... not a stretched IQR tunnel.. but rather a full custom tunnel using the RAW chassis tunnel coolers that have been cut, kicked up, customized IQR sides etc.

I belive that Ericks father is an engineer for Polaris at Roseau... he benefits from the knowledge and resources of that and it shows in his work!!

Did you check out the build thread on Snowmobilefanatics.com??
It has pics of the build process .

http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/topic/88949/display.aspx

Also, I'd sign up on there so you can also look at his previous 800 CFi IQR sled project. It has the 800CFi and uses the IQRR tank and '05 900 pump (4 bar, 58psi)

He ad to do some custom fab of the steering-hoop pyramid to accomodate the fuel tank. As you can see.. it is not a "bolt on deal"... The steering pyrmamid is a pretty crucial part for other items to fit... you will need to be very good with the bending, alignment and welding .

Here is SR_Ericks FIRST build the year prior of an 800 CFi IQR.
This build article shows the use of the IQR tank and 2007 Dragon fuel pump/flange-assembly (PFA), the modification of the stock pipe for use in the sled and lots of other ideas that will keep you from sratching your head.

Look here to see the topic with all the pictures of the build process: http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/topic/74453/display.aspx

What the sled includes:

136 inch Cobra 1.35 inch track
136 inch custom rails with 8 inch rear wheels (NOT extensions)
Rear skid has a Fox 8 position clicker and a RydeFX
Custom IQ consumer front end, sway bar mount cut off using rebuildable RydeFX shocks and 130 pound springs.
MY 2009 lightweight spindles
All the changes to the front end counts for over 16 pound weight savings from race front end.
154 HP 800 CFI (Fuel Injected) with stock 800 CFI pipe cut to fit chassis (same pipe that's going in all the new 2009 800 CFIs)
Oil injection with two quart reservoir
8 Gallon fuel tank (fuel pump mounted inside tank) with 2.5 gallon reserve tank on the back
Increased cooling capacity
Race torque stop and torque arm installed
FULL wiring harness with complete gauge package (speedo, tach, the works).
The ECU is programmed with the latest ECU flash for the 800 CFI (the same one the short track sleds will be shipping with next fall)
**Note: If you want to run this sled mainly in the mountains I can supply you with an ECU that has the latest RMK flash for the 800 CFI instead
4.5 inch riser

Other small things. If you have any questions about the sled just ask! This thing is amazing and has been running great. I get a solid 13 to 14 MPG riding it HARD...never an issue with running out of fuel on the trail. Top speed of over 100 MPH (Yes, on GPS). This is the absolute best ditch banger I have ever owned.

I used an 07 Dragon 700 pump, same mounting flange, but without the fuel guage. It looks like the above pump, but without the float and the nipples point up, not forward, allowing the use of the IQR airbox. I will try to post picks of my sled next week. My install is slightly different due to using a diamond drive instead of chaincase. The motor sits 3/4" lower and 3/8" to the clutch side. If you are creative with wiring, the electronics can be located on the exhaust side and the whole engine bay gets much less complicated.
