im about to buy a 99 rmk 700 xc with a 03 800 xc motor in it. i would assume the bottom end is a 700 and the top 800. but i am just guessing.

I would think that you could bolt them together and be good to go. If you dont get your answer here I would go down to your local dealer and ask them if it would work.

madgrip406: Im pretty sure that the motor in your sled is a complete 03 800 from top to bottom. Im pretty positive that those 2 motors wouldnt fit together.

Incorrect. This is not a bolt together deal. The 700 connecting rods are 2mm shorter than the 800 rods are. So you need 800 connecting rods, The cylinders, Pistons, a 800 head and water jacket.

That guess would more than likely be wrong. The 800 and 700 use the same crank and case but the connecting rods are different lengths 800 2mm longer so Id say it was a complete engine swap. The case porting for the 03 800 would be different anyway.

Right the rods are longer on a 800 but i was told you need to use special pin bearings and then the 800 big block cylinders (non ves) should go on using the shorter stroke rods Im sure someone has done this it makes like a 780cc.......

That would be correct. I believe SLP or someone like that used to make a 780 kit back in the day for these sleds.

Not sure who would make the pin bearings. I know they would have to be different than the 700 ones for this to work. Might try calling slp and seeing if they are still available. Maybe even Wiseco?

Back in the day when I was trying the same type of build, I believe only HPE offered a piston kit. Not sure if they still do or if that was even the correct outfit. I do know, that the people that ran them, said they ran well. I just threw in the towel on my build and put 800 cyl.'s on it and went sledding. Just my 2 cents.
