2013 prolite opinion

I have a 16 ltd and have been wanting to big bore it. But I ended up finding a killer deal on a 13 900 prolite. It’s got all the updates and obviously a lot of killer upgrades as well. My question is, if a 13 has all the updates done to it it’s pretty much the same as a 16 right? I’m not too familiar with the older models and don’t want to be blind sided by it not performing or handling like a 16 would.

From what I’ve read 12 and 13’s had a wider stance and 14’s 15’s got narrower so most 12/13 owners updated to the narrower 14/15 stance. The 16 (from what I’ve read) has the same stance as the 15 but different spindles giving it a different geometry.

So I’d guess your prolite was upgraded to 14/15 front as a lot of people seem to make that upgrade.

How much better is the 16’s geometry? No idea but my 15 handles pretty good?

Oh and I think 14’s on up have the skid moved back slightly too.

What was the first year for the drop and roll? 17?

Ya I love the stance on my 16. And the 13 has the 16 stance on it already. Ok So basically if a 13 has all the updates of on the skid and stance it’s pretty much the same thing.

the 16 has other stuff like the hyvo chain and team clutches, rear skid is different and shocks are better on your ltd. IMO i would just put the bb on your 16.
I have a 16 with the bmp 900, this is the same 900 used on the 13 prolite. makes good power

This things already got the 16 clutches a arms and skid relocated. That’s why I was wondering if it’s the same thing?

If it has a 2016+ geometry 36" front end and skid relocation with a 2016+ skid then it should feel similar to your 2016, but a little more squirrelly with the big bore making the front end light. Now if it has a Gen II or older Kmod mounted in the 2014+ skid location it's not going to feel as agile as your 2016. Since it doesn't have the dropped driveshaft it can be moved back up into the 2013 location and drop the rear ride height. That might make it comparable.

FYI the 2013-2015 front ends were 38" and the 2016+ are 36". Ask if it just has a new geometry spindle kit and upper a-arm put on or if it has had the lowers changed too.

How many miles on your sled and how many on the Pro-Lite? How many miles since the new clutch upgrades?

I’m not sure what exact skit it is. I imagine what ever they had out for 2013 because it was a guys personal sled at bdx. The prolite only has 600 miles total on everything. It’s supposed to have only been rode 5 times in the last 3 years. My 16 has 1400 miles on it. The price I’m getting this prolite for is about what a completely stock 2013 M8000 goes for . So I’ll try it if anything I can always put all the updates on my 16 ha

sounds like it's cheap enough.

Buddy I ride with has a stockish '16 3" 162. My '13 prolite 162 (stock skid) has a '16 cat front end... in most snow conditions it doesn't handle much different than the 16... 13 prolite feels a little lighter in some conditions (because it is) but in crusty snow I think the '16 is a little easier to keep on edge... maybe it's just because of the extra weight up high in the hood & headlight assembly on the 16 working as over-center weight... maybe its skid position & geometry change... donno... but the 900 bmp is awesome! 1400 miles & really love this motor!

Awesome! I can’t wait to try it out. This sled only has 600 miles! One thing I do not like is it has the post forward kit and I hate the steering like the ski doos, so I’m probably gonna switch it back. I’m gonna go ride it tomorrow, love the torque!
