How are the 09 rmk 700 handling, climbing and in the trees. I found on for a reasonable price. It needs a new track and rebuild. I have a track and can do the rebuild. It has 5100 miles on it. There asking 2800.00 for it. Think that's a decent price?

I can't comment on the deal you are considering, but I know I have had a great experience with my 09. Handling is very good IMO, the sled has a light feel and responds quickly. Being a 700 it's not going to get the highmark against an 800 class sled, but they climb pretty good for what's under the hood and have a lot of 'fun factor' to them. My 700 will keep up with an 800 all day in the trees no problem.

My friend bought an 09 700 for the rare occasion he rides with us. Pretty awesome sled for a 700. As said above, if riding in the trees, it would keep up with the 800s pretty well. Just seems to lack a little low end grunt compared to the 8s I thought. Fun ride though. No slouch

Reliability

Do the 08-09 700 engines have the same problems as the 800's or are they much more reliable and longer lasting? Considering an 08 700 myself.

Warm it up everytime, always. Even after stopping for a few minutes, get the coolant circulating and warm again, just like any other sled you gotta take care of it. Can have 5k trouble free miles out of it...
Or can push it too the limit like some do and blow it up in 1k...

So far my experience with mine has been good. They are more reliable than the 800's and really not much less in power. I picked up an '08 700 155 for the same price last year with a blown motor. For the money I've got into it, I've got a reliable sled, with good power and handling. We ride in Island Park area, boondocking in the tree's. Handles real well, easy to throw around and yet has the power to climb.
For the money you would have into it you could add some power adds to it later and still not have much into it. I'm adding a Silber Turbo and 2.5 Peak track to mine now this fall.
