Well i figured what another project on top of the other ones i got going. Ive wanted to do this for a while now, i got together with some other brains that pushed me to start it. first i started off buying a 05 M7 tunnel from the guys at fastlane, they had a rx1 motor in it so that bulkhead was junk. then i aquired at 09 M8 bulkhead from the shop i work at for a great price (free), granted it was bent i have an idea.

I spoke with a buddy at he hooked me up with Matt from Powerhouse (built the Ski doo rev with the 900 mountain cat in it, featured in snowest) i got another 09 M8 bulkhead, alot of you will recognize what sled it was from.

i also made braces to go inside the hollow parts that i cut through to make it stronger and i will make braces for the rest of it later. right now its just tacked so i can get measurements to make sure we have it straight. this is about as far as ive got for now. today i just spent a few hours trying to remove the powdercoat. also took my mock up motor to try to get some ideas flowing. pretty cool that i get to use a cpc 1150 to mock everything up. if anyone has any ideas i will take them into consideration. this is my first all out build and any help is appreciated

Hey put the brakes on !!! I have done this mod a few times and learned much in the process. Let me send you some pic as how we got the engine in place. It is harder than one might think to get the center to center distance correct along with side spacing for correct diamond drive alignment.

Well im looking at a few different options as far as motors go.

1. 900 EFI with a single pipe
2. 975 carb with a single pipe
3. Custom build CPC 1000 based off of 900 cases with CPC twin pipes also a carb

undecided as of now what i want to do. i like the dependability of EFI but i also like the sheer power of a big bore.

Im still working on getting it all welded up, have only been working on it for about 30 min after work each night so its slow.

If anyone know of a cheap M series roller let me know, anywhere around utah or between utah and minnesota.

prolly one or two more sessions with the welder and it will be a functional bulkhead again. then its to the drawing board for mounting

I have been thinking of a similar build! I have a few 900 Twins, no M series chassis.

What is a good year (M series) to start with?

I would do a 975 Carb/single pipe

The 975 with EFI and a boondocker box works quite well also, just for reference. Scoop on here had one set up like that. I personally like carbs, but if you really like EFI, don't rule it out just because of a big bore.
