is it common for 1998 mxz 500s to blow up???

I had a friend a couple days ago crack his piston rings and that got jammed inside the cylinder walls and destroyed the piston. Im not very handy with ski doo but ive known other friends with like 97s or 99 500s that have dropped pistons, busted cranks, etc. I just dont know if these problems are common in these 90s ski doo 500 enignes, but im curious to know what you guys have to say...

LMFAO, late model sleds for the last 10 years blow up once a year and no one gives it a second thought.

i had a 98 formula 500, same sled, man that thing was a hotrod or at least i though so. i think i had 2000 ish miles and had to trade for the new 99 mxz 600.
like it has been said that sled has served a good life time for a rebuild!
dont just half azz it, do both sides and check the crank. replace all gaskets.

or for about the same price just pick up another sled.
