Do not use any other oil than MPI I learned the hard way. I found some other oil that was called traction oil and it was $8.00 a quart i used it and the supercharger wouldnt get over 5 pounds of boost. I wound up flushing and changing oil to MPI now boost is where it should be. I got lucky i think.
Yes, do not use any other oil. I talked to Darren at MPI and he explained how the supercharger works. Its a gearless planetary and the oil acts as the "teeth". Just think about smooth cylinders having to not slip under force... takes some pretty fancy oil. $60 or $100 for oil is way cheaper than a new charger.
