clutch engagement rpm

on my 99 xc 700 it engages at about 5000 rpm seems high i just put rebuilt the primary which is a comet and put on a new tss 04 . i have 58 gram weights and a slp green and pink spring should i go heavier on the weights or lighter on the spring i was thinking about a 62g

The SLP spring is a 160/340 so your is abot right with 58's. Heavier weight will drop it a little and a hundred miles will bring it down a little more but it is a stiff spring to start with.

I run a 140/330 T1 spring with 66's in MN I engage @ 4000 RPM.

What elevation are you running?

That's a lot of initial spring for that setup... I would try the blue/pink, that's the one FEZ is talking about.

The Comet also tucks the weights a bit more than the Polaris clutch does so that will cause engagement to be a bit higher. But changing to the blue/pink will bring the engagement down some.
