A few years ago there was a thread with the coordinates for the shelters and some safety kits stashed in the woods.

Are those still around? Anybody willing to share them?

Thanks!

The safety shelters are still there, in the same place they have been in the past. As for the kits, I have not heard of them being placed after the one year he did it.

Aren't the coordinates of the shelters on the trail map? RevBaron was the one who put out the kits. Last I saw on here he moved back to Michigan.

This will get you within eyesight. This was found on a WSG84 map.
Quealy Hut: 41.3790, -106.3450
Nelson Hut: 41.2950, -106.2940

Trail map lists coordinates as:
Quealy:
N 41 degrees 22.740'
W 106 degrees 20.700'
Nelson:
N 41 degrees 17.940'
W 106 degrees 17.460'

I don't know of any kits up there, never heard of them.

Yea I rode with that guy who put those safety kits/survivor kits out...And the day I rode with him he wanted to check on them to make sure they were A ok ... They were all good, its just that they were about 4 feet under snow...Also they were miles apart...
That was about 4 years ago.. my guess is he stopped doing it.. For sure , if he was still doing it, he would have posted it...
It was a good thought

The kits were indeed placed by RevBaron, aka Chuck, when he lived in Loveland. I rode with him and checked them once. They were all buried, so we dug them out some and reset the ribbon. At least two of them were NOT at warming huts, but at cabins in the middle of nowhere, one south of Libby Flats, and one up by Sand Lake IIRC.

Chuck moved back to Michigan probably 5 or 6 years ago... He's been out riding a couple times since, but I have been trying to get hold of him this year to come out riding with us in Alpine and have thus far not heard from him. I wonder if he's not riding anymore...

Nobody picked up leaving the kits after he left as far as I know.
