00 RMK 136 to 156 Project underway (with pics)

Finally got all the pieces to the puzzle together to get this going...this is a real straight FWD swap and am surprised how little information there is on the web/forums for this....I had problems getting answers from even SLP and Van Amburg on parts and required cut/drill information. Hopefully this thread will streamline some of your guys projects and answer a few of the unanswerables I had problems with.

2000 RMK 136" with "rolled coolers", SLP wouldn't even touch an extension for this setup?? They loose major point for that one. Van Amburg had an extension to work with the coolers but were hard to get a hold of and to get a straight answer from on the install.

The 136" setup after all the plastic is off.

Factory Tail section removed as well as cooler.

Tunnel Extension On, and here is where I am not 100% confident....I set the extension at the OEM turn-up angle which was pre-bent to the extension...not sure if I should have changed it to be more flat??

I reused the lower part of the factory bumper, and the side plastic for the tunnel transition, the plan is to make a ski rack in this position as well.

Looks pretty goofy with that 136 under there now! This week will be skid swap week and a few cleanup items (rear brake light, and prob should get a longer snow flap)

....stay tuned!!

When the 00 came out, before anyone really did any work on extending one, the 01 came out with the 151. To put a 156, which was really all that was available in 01, on an 00 you could just buy the factory 151 extension from the dealer, there wasn't any real reason for SLP to invest time/effort in building an extension.

I had a local sheet metal shop bend one up for my 00.

I'm actually surprised the Van Amburg even makes one.

Yeah, I had heard that too. Not too many aftermarket companies that pick up this stuff for the older sleds.

I have often thought that if you could start a company, go to some of the aftermarket guys like Holz, Van Amburge, SLP, WMS, etc and get them to either give or for a small cost, sell you their info on stuff like drop kits, tunnel extensions, rail ext, etc for older sleds you could make a pretty decent living making and selling those things.

If someone made the Holz drop kit for the Edge RMK for example, I could sell a dozen of them tomorrow.

Well, according to my local Polaris dealers...the 151 closeoff is DISCO now. So new market!
