A buddy of mine just bought a storm 800 with a 136 track. I am wondering if we can put 144" track on it. He is looking at geting the kit from tracks usa. Has anyone done this? Just looking for some tips and if anyone has had problems.

Thanks!!

Old school! We did alot of those back in the day. The mod is pretty straight forward. Tracks usa will be hard to beat on price and should have all the instructions you need with it to do the install. Enjoy!

May even have a new set of rail extensions for that application.

APPLICATION: 136-144”, TRACK EXTENTION: 7.5”, AXLE EXTENTION: 3.75” - For Stock 6-3/8" Wheels
Part#: 44-1516

Left over from when we closed our Polaris shop. Pm me if interested.

a stock 95 storm sks would have been a 133.5 and not a 136...those ext wouldn't work to go 144 without setting the skid back. That is assuming that it has the original skid.

extensions

785RMK--

If nightfire does not want the extensions could you PM me a price? I'm putting a 141 on my XLT. I bought a set of 136-141 extensions to fit a set of 136 rails I bought, but those 136-144 extensions on my 133 rails would save me from having to unbolt my whole skid to swap the 136 rails over.

Sorry to hijack you're thread, nightfire. Good luck with the project, and post some pics of the swap.

Long live the Wedge!!!

theultrarider was right this is a 133. I guess now im wondering how much more work it would be to put on a Edge suspension then strech it out to a 144. pros cons?

Putting in an edge suspension is no big deal at all, just changing your mounting locations, thats all.

depending on what skid you get, the measurements are all off the driveshaft to center of the holes.

there are some measurments on www.jbshocks.com and they show u the center to center measurments, if what your looking for is not on there, send me a PM, i just got done dropping a EDGE RMK skid into a xlt

good luck

If you're going to change the suspension, why not just put an Edge RMK 144 skid instead of extending a shorter one?

I just put an Xtra Lite RMK 144 skid in one XLT (swap from Xtra 10 133) and an Edge RMK 144 in another XLT (swap from Xtra 12 121). I thought about putting extensions on the Xtra 10 instead of swapping it, but when I considered the price of extensions vs buying another skid and selling the Xtra 10 it was cheaper in the long run to upgrade and have a much better suspension to boot.

I bought the RMK skids and 144 tracks in the off season, and I just sold the take-off skids and tracks at the end of October for about the same as I paid for the RMK skids and longer tracks. So all it cost me was shipping and my labor.

Even paying higher prices for used skids since it's sledding season now, I'd still go swap over extending. If you're going to all the trouble to pull the drive shaft (especially if you have 4 drivers) and pull the skid and track, it's not that much more work to move mounting locations and upgrade the suspension.

Are you guys running a 1.25 lug track? Can a 1.75 lug be put on and not hit the cooler? I have Edge skid on the way and will be replaceing the 136 rails with 144 rails
