I was just doing this, so I thought I would post up to help anyone else out. If you're considering removing the foam from the side panels to help keep the belts cooler, here's a way to do it successfully without a mess.

If you've ever filleted a fish, or skinned a deer, you remove the foam the same way. Start at one end and slice at the glue with a razor blade while pulling the foam up. You can either leave the remaining residue or it'll clean off with acetone, Goo gone, etc.

There may be other ways to do it, but this is how I do it.

……..
Pull the panels off and spray the foam down with hot water. Once its saturated the foam peels right off.

Yep.
Or even heat the panels with a heat gun from the outside and the foam and residue comes off without doing the solvent BS.....
