10-11 are lighter and have oil holes , anything else? any reason you cant run 10 pistons in a 09 and vice versa.

I just rebuilt my 09 M8 and Brent (Brent Linderman) specifically changed to the 10 pistons because they are better. Use 2010 piston and rings, 2010 base gasket (more cooling) and 09 wrist pins (not as light as the 2010 but stronger) and your good to go.

I right that 2010 m 8 cylinders will notwork on a 09 case
I don't know about the cylinders, you may very well be right. They may be cut differently where they go into the case but I do know that what I mentioned for the pistons and such is correct. Brents been doing em tthat way for quite a while now and I know he knows what he is doing.
Well I degreed my cylinders bolted onto a 09 case. Everything looked good to me.
