So I've want get a 3" track this fall and noticed on tracks USA site that they are going to offer a 15x156x 3" track in the X3. However I can't really find any info on the difference between the to. If the challenger extreme is better than I just get it cut down but it's he nice to get the X 3 cause its already 15 wide

I think the challenger extreme is better for hardpacked snow, and the X3 is better for the powder :)

The new X3 has a totally different construction and is a lot lighter.

I bought a X3 in January and love it

haven't found a single issue in any snow condition. fluff to spring hard pack. excellent braking, excellent flotation, it's a digging son of a gun. the guys behind me complain a little because it throws grapefruit sized snow balls from behind it.

The X3 is drum molded

The challenger 3"-lug tracks are platten molded (flat) .

The X3 turns better and, IMO, will be a more durable track.
If you are going to run 7 tooth drivers, the X3 hands down.

.

X2, I just received my X3 / 163" can't wait for next season!!!

I bought both the old CE 3 and the new 3,the new 3 is only 14 inches wide paddle to paddle, there is a 1/2 inch without paddle on each side of the track.
On my machines I will buy the old style and cut them down...

Is that on the 15 wide track? You think that 1/2 inch is worth getting a track cut?

Couldn't agree more with you Dave! I put one on my M8 and was very disappointed when it showed up narrow like that. Better for keeping your sled nimble feeling but thats not why I bought a 3"!

Bought x3 fall 2012.No regrets.Camoplast weights at that time would have made the 16" 10# heavier when cut down to 15".Lighter track-better track speed ? No notches, whether good or bad, would make up for some narrower width.

So the new x3 is a 15" wide belt, with 14" lugs, 1/4" of belt each side of the lugs? I looked camo website that's want the x3 looks like, hope the picture they have on the web site is wrong?

It's correct...

The pic is correct. I have one on my M1100T. Works very well, and I don't feel it gives up anything to the old style CE (had one of them on an M1000, too). I suppose if it is a huge issue to you, buy the old style and have it cut.

Keep in mind cutting a 16 down voids the warrenty on that track.

I went with the x3, lighter weight, no added cost of cutting the track, warrenty in place, far out way the 1/2" of lug for me.
