I just bought a mountain horse kit that was on a 2002 KTM 400. I put it on my 2000 KTM 380, it bolted up great. I am having a problem getting the chain to fit. With the stock 14 tooth front it doesn't even come close to fitting. with a 13 tooth front sprocket the chain is very close to fitting, within an 1/8 of an inch, but won't go. I tried adding another 1/2 link and another master link and putting the 14 tooth back on and the chain was way too long, the adjuster was clear down in the track. I would guess my next option would be to put a 1 tooth smaller sprocket on the timber sled kit and then the 13 tooth sprocket would fit fine. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm at a loss at the moment, I wanna ride this thing!

On the 400 the adjuster was close to the track too.

Chris,
On the 400 the chain was almost touching the track. It will work fine and it never did rub on the track.
I also have the rear tunnel part for the cracked piece. Will mail if you email or PM me your address.
That snowbike should really fly and still a lot of snow on the mountain.

Well after trying the 380 as a snowbike, it ain't gonna work. It goes ok, but the 450s work way better! Also it's really sensitive to jetting and elvation. Oh well, I tried. just gotta pull my kit off and sell it and get somethin else. I'm really likin the husky 510. Oh by the way gary it takes a 12 tooth sprocket on the two smokes, which I now have two of, if anybody needs a 12 tooth sprocket for a ktm let me know. It looks like it fits all of em.

Hmmm.Many others are saying the 300 is killing the bigger 4 strokes in the deep?

You should buy my practically brand new 2001 CR500R and smoke the 450's.

It is not suseptible to jetting and elevation issues.

A CR 500 would be cool, but after jumpin off my 380 and onto a kx450 I don't think I want a two-smoke snowbike. I have done some more lookin and I think I'm gonna go with a 450 ktm. I do a lotta woods ridin in the summer and they get great reviews. Should work great for a snowbike too. If I didn't ride single track so much in the summer I would probably go with a KX.

My dirt buddies sold their 450's and bought 500's and 380's and 300's after riding my 500 in the dirt/woods. The 500 was made for the woods.

Ya I know about the 12 tooth problem. If I end up running the kit on my 300 I would like to regear so that I can go to a 13. I am surprised you couldn't get the 380 to run right. I would agree that the 450's run better than the 300, the best setup I saw this season was an 11 Honda 450 it made my 525 look like a 250. I wanted to go to the 300 for dirt and my buddy's 300 does just as good or better in powder than my 525 so it was an easy decision for me to pick up a 300. I would really like to pickup a CR500 before this winter roles around though and see how it does.

I'm not selling my kit, it's going on my new bike. I picked up a 2010 450XCW six days last weekend. I love the bike the power is super smooth and the handling is amazing! It's gonna be an awesome bike for both I'm pretty sure! I think I just need to get a few parts from timbersled and my kit will bolt right up.
