Been looking around for an avalanche probe for quite some time now. I see that there are a lot of brands out there. Im curious which brands are better than others or which probes are better than others in general. I know for a fact that I want a longer probe(300+). Any info would be great!

In my opinion, you want a probe that is at least 8.5 feet long if not longer. A 300cm probe is perfect.
You also want a probe that is not pencil thin because they will bend and snap if you have to use it in real avalanche debree.
I also like a probe that has a quick tensioning system rather than a twist-nut tension. These take longer when seconds count.

Probes that meet that criteria include:
Good - Black Diamond Supertour 265 / (The BCA profile 240 probe is a good probe, but it is a little short)
Better - Black Diamond 300cm Guide Probe
Best - BCA 340cm Carbon Fiber
