What do you guys think would work better? Since a friend heard I put a turbo on my dragon he has started to put on a 1200 kit on his m10. It should be close I think.

depends where your riding I suppose. If your going to ride in death valley CA it would be close...

bhp loss = elevation in feet / 1000 x 0.03 x bhp at sea level

dragon turbo. 200hp at 1000 feet, 200hp at 7500 feet. (more less)

M1200. 220 hp at 1000 feet

7500(alt while riding)/1000x.03x220 = 49.5 (loss)

220-49.5 = 170.5

M1200 =170.5hp at 7500' Thats assuming it makes 220 at 1000 and assuming you ride at 7500', do that math at 9500' and have a look.

now........

M1200T... 300hp at 1000', or 5000', or 8000'...so he is on the right track:)

Was talking to Dale Cutler about M8 turbo. He said you had to repalce piston/rings every 600 miles and reeds sooner than that. Is it the same on a big bore? Anyway another thing to consider on a turbo, i would be putting in 3 sets of piston/rings a season.

Maybe with a smaller turbo that he runs last year and smaller size auto turbo on his pump gas kits this year they may have hotter charge temps but I have talked to allot of guys with over 600 miles and they said there stock reeds are fine but all all had GT2860 and GT2871's

Not quite I agree on your math...turbos DO lose some with an increase in elevation, just not as much as NA. From my research there seems to be a consensus of about 1% per 1000 feet, which would put your 200 HP turbo at 185HP at 7500'.

so Im the guy with the 08 m1000,I can understand my buddy going with a turbo after getting such an a-- kicking last season,Im sure he is still licking his wounds.Just to show him I am a good sport I bought an extra long tow rope ,so I can pull him home after the baby dragon stops breathing fire. The boys over at the arctic cat side are smart enough to never play all their cards at once,I would be concerned!!!
