Last season I had my engine rebuilt, new juggs, crank shaft, pistons , head, vforce 3 reeds, slp pipe, all new hoses. Once it was broken in I was riding with my buddy who has a 04 polaris 700 and he was out climbing me. Does anybody know why? I shoudl have smoked him right of the get go. I only am hitting 6900-7200 RPM at 10,000 to 12000 feet. I like the 900 and I wnat to get more power it just doesnt seem right to me.

You're definitely not pulling full RPM and the sled will seem like a dog at that low rpm. Your target RPM is right around 7400 in stock form, so you may need to lighten weights or do a spring change to get it to spin up. I like the way my 900 pulls at 7550 RPM the best, anything less than that just doesn't feel like it's accomplishing what it should be capable of. When I have pulled 7200 RPM on climbs the sled just feels like a slug compared to 7550, I can imagine 7000 RPM must be really disappointing.

What is your current clutching setup?
