2010 M8 only hitting 6500 RPM

Hi I took my new to me 2010 M8 for its first run.
I could only get up to 6500 rpm then a few ( 3 ) times it hit 8000.
It looks like the the PTO side is not firing right looks like it is over fuelling.
140 psi on both cylinders.
Going to check my reeds but why would it run ok for a short time off and on.
any help would be nice

Clutch

Inspect the rollers and weights in your primary.

First off do you know how old the fuel is? Old skunky gas can cause all sorts of problems. You could also have a injector sticking open, maybe some injector cleaner would help. One of the coils could be bad or the mag side rear plug cap could be shorting out on the steering shaft. Like jughead said inspect the clutch rollers and look for a cracked spider.

Would a bad clutch cause the PTO side to not fire right.
Yes It had old skunky Gas maybe 2 gal I filled it up the rest with fresh gas.
I will try switching the injectors and run some injector cleaner in it.
It will run at idle on both sides not as good on the PTO side.
I will check the wires for shorts

Check your reeds! I'll bet you have at least two broke petals on the PTO side.

Good call 2 of the petals were broke now hopefully that will fix it.

Do not buy stock reeds get aftermarket boyseens.just buy the pedals

Checked and replaced my reeds runs great now.
