I have low voltage (dim headlights, no tach, no grip heat) on a 2005 polaris 800 edge and wondered if anyone has any good ideas how to resolve it.

Sounds like either a bad ground or a dead short thats shorting it all to ground. Check all your grounds, check connections and clean them where they all plug in at the motor, and at the voltage regulator(left side just above your foot)
If none of that works, unplug your regulator start the sled. DO NOT RUN ABOVE IDLE!!!! Did your lights brighten back up? if so your regulator is junk. If not keep looking. Note, if you rev the motor at all while the regulator is unplugged it will blow every single bulb on the sled.

It's a bad voltage regulator.
Put the Cat 2 wire one on it.
