I recently bought a stone stock 04 KK with only 600 miles on it and am trying to get it to run at it's potential while remaining reliable.

I'll be riding in Utah, mostlly around salt lake around 7-8000 feet.

Anyone got any recommendations for clutching or jetting? On my first ride my max RPM's ranged from just over 6000 to over 8000.

Over 8000 RPM is WAY to high. that sled in stock trim makes its peak power at 7200-7400.
In stock trim the run pretty good with
a yellow green spring in the primary with 68 or 69 gram weights
A 53/55 helix and a red white spring in the driven.
I also ride utah. A little higher elevation but i normally set up for 8000-10000 feet.

On my 900 I had about the same clutching just a straight 53 helix with a green snopro spring. 69 grams yellow green primary spring. Running 7300 RPM
7000 to 10000 Feet. CPI single, sledjunkys billet heads/ drop bracket, V-force reeds, light weight brake, CPI can, & air box gutted and flow rites added.

also run straight 53 with 68g weights for 8k-10k and the green snopro in the second from tightest hole. I run the boysene rad valves, they seem to run better in the top end than the v force. Mono head is a must get it from RKT when he starts makin them again for the 1M 900s. Also want to look into an engine torque arm because this motor actually twists in the chassis and the arm will help keep your clutches aligned and more efficient. I'm running the speedwerx Y pipe and MBRP can. I prefer the sledjunkys drop brackets however they do add more ski pressure and some dont want that. but getting to places via the trail, the drop brackets will help keep the sled on the ground. I also run and have had better luck with my K&N filterpods than with my airbox, if you run the pods make sure you have enough ventilation in the hood too evacuate the hot air and draw in fresh cooler air. I'm pullin around 7600-7800 RPMs, the cats tachs always seem to be around 200Rs off

just my .02

Thanks for the help fellas. I'm more looking to get my clutching and jetting dialed than add mods.

Rixster, isn't that that clutch setup pretty close to stock? Any ideas why my max rpm is varying? Somethings got to be worn.

Also, does anyone have their jetting dialed on a stocker for similar elevation? Thanks again.
