How much is it going to cost to replace the injectors in an 03, parts and labour? Will the new injectors be an upgrade to the problem proned originals?

Curious.....are they internal injectors as apposed to external?

Thanks

It's a 7 year, 200,000 mile warranty so you may be getting close to running out of warranty. I've heard 8 hours labor and around $1200 for a set of injectors. Not sure if that price is right on the injectors but I know with a good set of tools you could change them in a weekend (10-14 hours working time if you've never done it). They are internal injectors and you wouldn't be replacing them with anything any better than the originals unless you went aftermarket.

Mitchell is showing 11.4 hours of labor and $350 per four injectors. The injector part numbers have updated quite a few times, this usually means an update to the part, though not always. GM is not very good at letting anybody know exactly what updates are done to parts, but I haven't had to replace more than one set on a truck in a few years, used to be somewhat common through '03. As mentioned, there is an extended warranty period on injectors, you are getting close but may still be covered.

I just had to change out my second set in an 02 duramax. The warranty only covers 1 set. So to change out 8 injectors at 300 bucks a piece plus a new fuel pump which you will want if you are going in that deep in the motor plus labor and seals i was $5500. It runs like a raped ape now. Still I think I got hosed by my stealership.

Actually warranty should cover as many sets as are needed to get through the warranty period. There are lots of guys on Dieselplace.com claiming to get 2-3 sets of injectors before warranty ran out. Now if you make it over 200,000 miles with one set changed that is a different story...

i don't know if diesel injectors are different but my buddy with a vette had problems. gm want 3200 to fix and most of it was parts. the advisor the he somewhat knows told him to get the injectors from jegs and gm would put them in for 250. jegs had injectors for 300. so it cost him 550 to fix.

i think they are considered internal, as the valve covers come off to replace. They do have a 7 year 200000 mile warranty. If your out of warranty i have a spare LB7 motor out of an 03 3500 with 130000 miles. I'll sell you the injectors for 500$ plus the cost of my mechanic to take them out.

I was looking for a newer used duramax and came stumbled across a mint 03 with 35000 original miles. I had bean avoiding the injector problem years.... question was to help make my mind up on giving up 2 -3 yrs of vehicle age with 65-85K for same money as the 03 with 35k ???????
