Has anyone tried them? Seen a lot of videos and they look promising. Should be much easier to store in the truck than tire chains but are they as effective?

They don't look as manly as chains.
Look like something a vegetarian might use.

I have not used them, but a work mate has some, and swears by them. I'm going to get some for my wife's 2wd jeep.

I got a pair and threw them in my little 2wd car when I had to cross I70 in the winter. I should have used them and actually got my moneys worth out of them when the blinking lights came on, but I didn't actually want to stop on the side of the road. They do count as traction for the traction law in Colorado though

If they don't work you can always use them as hair nets.
