Im thinking of putting a turbo on my 2009 m1000. I found a twisted turbo kit and a boost it fuel box for a good price. What should i know and what should i look out for. Will this combo run on avgas or only race fuel? Thanks for the help guys

Way too many variables here to comment. There were race gas twisted kits with dual injectors and pump gas with single injectors. Since it has a boost-it box I would assume it's the race gas unit. What elevation do you ride at? Which turbo is it? 3071? 3076?

BTW it is a great kit :face-icon-small-hap

Yes to 4 injectors and it's a 3076 turbo. I ride from 2k to 9000 ft. I like boon docking. I'm not a hill climber. I appreciate your help. Thank you

Depending on boost level you can run avgas, or 50/50 up to about 8-9lbs at 9k which is more than enough power.

All of the 1000 cc sleds got cylinder work I believe. You will need the jugs worked on to make it like the ones Shain put together.

I winch every time I hear m1000 and turbo in the same sentence - yes these can make incredible power, but they can also easily detonate, especially in the midrange, and with no det sensor like the 800s have, you have very little margin for error, even with quality race gas. I always suggest that you consider instead the 800 if you want to turbo - much more forgiving and far easier to turn the boost up if you want/need the power. Not sure what boost levels you're wanting, the 3076 is a monster size turbo which will probably get a little lazy on the bottom, especially if you're clutched for higher boost. Sorry I don't have much else to contribute for setup suggestions, except maybe to consider backing off the timing. Seen many 'expert tuners' have limited success, then eventually give up on these...

M1000 turbo...

Funny thing is that i have never burned a 1000 or 1200 turbo down...I ride one every weekend at 11-14 lbs boost, keep the primary clutch fresh (911 face plate helps a lot) put a set of new pistons in it every 2000 miles use an 046 belt (the best belt) any sled can run well with a good mechanic building it.

We have had very good luck with this when using the Boost-it fuel controller.
