been shooting at mine for over 5,000 miles and the bullets are still bouncing right off:)

Now fess up Ron, how bout the new DD. :D Seriously though they are easily at the top of the list for mountain sled reliability. Maybe even higher than the 4 stroke Yami's. I'm talking both the M7-8.

i wasn't shooting at that;) seems someone was shooting at it from the inside!!! ok besides needing some serious heat protection/venting, only left me up on the hill the one time when the dd went out, not bad for 5,000 hard earned miles. Oops i mean 5,000 trail miles, everyone knows i love the road... low snow, groomed trail specialist:) been wondering how that new 136x3/4 ripsaw track is working, anyone put one on thier M yet??????:)

Sandman and Killerk have some great points. IMO, M8's are reliable as anything else i've seen and then some. Watch your DD. Make sure you clean & service. Make sure you take care of the venting and heat issues. Side vents are a must. Also, some kind of upper venting, AMP Guage cage or Flow Rites near guage, allows for mass hot air escape & will keep your sled cooler and running better. Other than that, I'd heat tape around and under the threads to the oil tank. Seen too many of these melt this year!

Easy exit venting is to drill holes on the backside of the side covers with a hole saw and taper the hole size down as the width from the panel taper narrows.
I run no screens on both sides and have no issues with snow getting on the clutches.
Good side vents are a must, and a headlight delete made into venting helps a lot too.

I've had an M7 and now the M8. Both have lots of mods.

Scarface bullet proof! Did you see how many he took and he kept on going!

Maintenance, good oil, gas, and cleaning are the keys!

I've got a helmet cam video from of me on my 07 m8 (fairly mod-y) this season that's 58 minutes long and I am stopped at idle for a total of about 5 minutes, otherwise the sled is cranked the whole time, and in 58 minutes that sled doesn't hiccup or bog or drop RPM once, it rips the whole time. It is without doubt the most reliable sled I've ever had, not to mention the most fun! It's so reliable that it fell off my buddies trailer on to asphalt @ 65 mph and I got it back without a scratch on it! Some dog poopie form the driveway of the hicks that stole it but otherwise perfect, now that's a sled! Oh yeah also 1300 miles this season without a problem. I changed DD fluid twice and cleaned the APV once.
Here's a pic...., cause pix make for better posts...
