He is coming off a,06 m5. Would like to find a m6 153. But can not find one. Found a very nice 08 m8 153. Just little nervous about the power. He is about 145lbs. Rode for 4 years. Any one had any experiences with there 12 year. Thanks

I have four girls that could all handle an m8 very well at 12.
My 9 yr old son has an m6 and we trade a lot in deep snow, he handles my 15 m8 with ease.
If it’s an 09 or newer the weight difference is small.

It'll really depend on his skill level and confidence, also whether you feel like he will respect the power of that machine. Going from an m5 to a m8 is a big step, but he will most likely grow out of a 600 very quickly. I had a 500 super track when I was 12 and went from that to a 650 triple at 14 and then a 900 fusion at 15. If he can physically handle the power and respect it and you feel like he would be okay with it, I don't see why not.

If he is a trim 145 pounds he is plenty strong enough to handle the larger motor. On easy going there is not a great difference in speed between a 600 and 800. On a heavy pull the power advantage of the 800 can give him the luxury of using the throttle carefully.

If he is 145 pounds at only 12 years old he will quickly grow into needing the larger sled in a year or two.

I wouldn't call him trim. But he is strong.

He is a good rider. Rides a 125 Dr dirt bike. Had good throttle control. Has not mastered side billing yet. To be honest he is no quite 12 yet. But he is the size of most 12 year olds. The other sled Im looking at is a 07 700 rmk 155.

If you're worried about the power of the 800 I'd seriously be looking for a 600 Pro. The 600 motor is great in any year and the chassis is a world ahead of the RMK or the M. I'd rather ride the 600 Pro over the other 2 all day long.

I agree

But he is 11 so there is a limit on what I am spending. I have a 850 summit. I love it. A nd he lives it. But He has to work up to one of these new sleds.
