I just put 65g in mine hope it pulls 82-8300RPM ,,,Glad you told me this I was thinking the 68 were to heavy ,,but dont know why they would want to go all the way down to 63 acording to the chart???

And what did you guys think of your skis???

Interesting that you have to go to 65's to get 8200 rpm at 9-11K. My 09 with the slp performance package which is porting, pipe, head, fuel box, intake and clutching with 70G weights will pull 8150 at 9500 -10,000ft.

First thing is we have to see what rpm this sled likes. Dynoteck shows 7900rpm is the sweet spot d&d shows 8000-8100 and speedwerks dyno shows peek hp at 8300rpm. First ride today and was running 7900-8000 and it felt strong. Only trial and error will tell me if it likes more rpm better. Wish we had a solid rpm to shoot for.

I have just over 250km's on mine so far, love it. My gauge shows my max RPM at 8520 but when I am pulling hills at elevation it is consistantly 8100-8200, feels good to me. I would highly recommend the AMP Gauge cage, you are actually able to see the gauge!

Hopefully eveyone's dealer checked clutch alignment and belt deflection. Every sled we have built so far has needed adjustment! This could make a big difference on how you clutching feels and the life of your belt.

Also installed the BMP exhaust can today, freaking loud! If you are sensative to sound I would not recommend this can. Throttle response feel great and the saved weight is noticable when riding.

I agree on this. When I got my 09 and put the slp pipe on it before the porting everyone said to shoot for 8100 which I did but my sled pulled much harder at 7900 so that's where I clutched it for.

man

this sled leaps outa the snow compaired to my 08m8, this thing pulls hard and best way i can describe it is it feels like my track lost 20 pounds and spools up that much faster!!!

I cut the crank on my old wildcat race sled and when the crank got lighter it would not pull the same weight any more,, still fast just diff clutching,, did the polaris clutch on a skidoo and it wouldnt pull the weight,, when the motor revs easier it takes less weight to shift.I had a CMX and that sled was light and it didnt pull alot of clutch weight either my riding bud had a edge with the same motor and he pulled 6 grams more and was still slower, Rotating weight is a strange thing!!!!

This sled is AWESOME!! This is my hubby's second hard ride to the mountains with this sled....he put on 95 miles the first trip and then yesterday put on about 75. Comparing it to my 08 M8, it has so much more torque. The 162 powerclaw works excellent in the deep stuff.....where I was getting stuck with the 153, the new M8 just basically sat ON TOP of the snow. When I rode the new m8 I really found it more nimble, easier to throw around and the HP difference was amazing. I'm loving this new M8, so much that I don't want to ride it anymore because I WANT ONE!!

Put an slp pipe on your 08 with the powerclaw track and it will narrow the gap a bit. The powerclaw track is just amazing.

I rode the same area as I_Boondock this weekend and mine ran great! A little blubber because of the extra oil added but it ran great. After the first ride on Friday in deep wet snow I had 1 3/4" belt deflection so I had to change the shim. With the shim change, Sundays ride was perfect! I have my tank of break-in gas burned now so I'll what RPM's I'm running. I switch with my son and rode my old M7 for a while, thats when you really feel the difference!!!

mine came stock at 6-9k ft at 10.5k did you have the 63g arms instead of the 68g ???? And if so i i wondered about the rpm as im told the motor needs 82-8300 rpm

my buddy and i got 10's, mine is an le and his is a white sp. We left the 68's in for 6-9k and we are riding 8-11k, got 100 mile on each and the max rpm has been 8240 rpm. Think when it breaks in it will be perfect? Maybe i will shave off a gram or two but the 63's will rap out too much.

I haven't seen anyone mention anything about idle. Maybe all M's are like it, maybe all 2 strokes are like it (last sled before this was Apex) but during idle it feels like its going to shake apart, once riding is smooth, but during the idle, my pull cord is wobbling all over the place, and depending on how it is sitting on the snow even the handle bars are dancing like crazy.

Is the motor smooth while your cruising down the road? My XP had a terrible vibe around 7200 rpm. Drove me crazy.
