I am stay'n and paying also. The info I have recieved from you guy's has been priceless.
The amount I saved in belts alone would pay for my fees for 100 years.
Also the fact that I am running my 06 900 for another year saves me huge.
Still haven't found a new sled that performs much better.

Wow, So glad to hear you guys are all willing to stick around the 900 forum. Like several of you have said, the sheer commitment to help out others with these 2-year sleds is awesome. This is un-questionably the best place on the net to find 900 info I'm glad to be a part of it.:D:D

You guys rock!:D:cool::beer;

I thought about my post after I left it, and I wanted to add this:

Yes I will pay to use the forum, but not because I think new features are necessary, or worth paying for. I will stay because of the wealth of info built up in here, and because of the members who made / make that happen daily.

All that having been said... my vote would be for a simple, old school forum with no frills and no subscription fee. Fully public forums are the real way we can help each other as snowmobilers.

I bought my 900 from a friend and got it for next to nothing. This is the newest sled I have ever owned and without the support and information I have recieved from you guys I would still be riding my old school Ski Doo at the back of the group. It has been nice to be at the front of the pack for a change. Thanks to all. I'm staying!

Here are my thoughts cut/paste from another thread..

Boils down to... you guys are the most important part of being here, for me...
I'm not going to let a small fee get in the way of participating with you.

Well I for one (of many) am glad that all of this is getting sorted out.

Many of you know me and my dedication to this forum, to helping people where I can and sharing the information that I'm fortunate to be exposed to with the members of this forum. So, Hopefully you can see that I don't make "knee jerk" reactions to things nor do I bend easily to satisfy others.

Just like you, I will be paying for the service when that transition happens. For me, I couldn't look other members in the eye and say that I'm rowing the same boat as them if I didn't. And... for such a small amount compared to my normal daily activities I'm very happy to pay to have such good access to other members, the camaraderie and information on this site.

The charity that I have participated in, and from, with fellow SnoWest-Forum members has been a life changing experience. Whether that was helping Sawyers niece Gracie get over her life threatening illness, learning more about people like EricW who Daily make a contribution to the world he lives in, having many members last year GIVE parts to get a young man back on the snow... or mourning the loss of people that have changed our lives like Rick Ward....

The PEOPLE on this site DO make this site... that is why I want to be part of it for years to come and the price of a 12pack is not going to get in my way of keeping that as part of my life.

So, before you say "Moderators get free "dues" " ... Even if they did.... I'll be paying the same as you regardless as part of my own decision to support this site. I WILL BE PAYING when we get to that point....REGARDLESS. To me, it's worth the price of 1/3'rd of a gallon of 2-smoke oil.

The issues of speed, search-ability and other performance related items will be a thing of the past with the new equipment.

There will be some great options to add entertainment, communication and connections to the forums that will make it easier to communicate and find what you need here.

These early changes to the layout of the forum that Christopher has been trying out, that seem to be frustrating to some, will be refined in response to our suggestions as members.

From my viewpoint, Christopher & SnoWest is putting in a massive effort into making this a better site for us. His is a thankless job that, by definition, will have a target pasted to his back for quite some time while the changes are made.

Christopher has a "tall order" in front of him... He'll need to bring the site back up to speed, and fix many of the technical and communication issues on this site. I'm not a computer specialist... but Christopher, NeatBrian and others at Harris are... They are on task right now and we should see some results in the very near future.

So hang with me here... Christopher has already told us that the priority is to bring these forums up to speed... We get a FREE trial run of this after the new servers are brought online and we get to see just what is possible for this site.

We also will get to have many free aspects of this site even AFTER the "dues" kick in.

For as long as it's free... lets not "write the script" here.

With so many challenges facing the snowmobile community in the West, I believe that Christopher and Harris Publishing will be stepping up to the plate in a major way to act as good stewards for a sport/hobby that gives us all a lot of enjoyment!

You will have to make your own decision on whether or not you want to stay... But please, make that decision based on what this site can give you in return for your investment.... not spite or anger... there is enough of that in the world today.

IMO... the proof WILL be "in the pudding"

I am not saying I will or will not pay at this point, but everyone stating that they will pay just because they want to doesnt make sense to me.. Snowest IS NOT who brought this information to you.. Its the MEMBERS of the site who did.. Snowest just gave them a place to do this.. Sure some people will pay and stay, but a lot of people will move on and a lot of these people will also have the knowledge you are seeking.. Then when you come here asking for answers and there isnt many to choose from, you will also be visiting these free sites to find these answers.. I myself have already been a member on other sites almost just like this one.. The ONLY thing I liked about this site more than the others is that people live closer to me on this site. The help and support on here is awesome for all of this forum, not just the 900 section, but if this site is only left with a handful of people who decided to pay and its not the new features you are paying for.. what is it that you just put $30 into.. Again, not saying I am or am not paying at this point so dont get something out of this that isnt here.. Just throwing this out there for everyone who is already determined to pay the fees on a site you dont even know will succeed!

For the people out there that think that this site is not going to succeed, why? Is one of the biggest snowmobile forums site going to close up, because of a $10 buck annual fee?. Don't be silly. I think the people with the passion and knowledge will be staying. Those are the people that keep the site in demand. The fat will be trimmed, and the people that leave, well they will probably be the ones that haven't contributed much. Sorry if some of you will be offended by that statement, because there is some truth to it.

Well put Chunky!

I'm not sure my sled would be running either if I hadn't found this forum. The information I've gained has been remarkable. I'll be paying just for the already gathered information. I realize it's the participants that make this forum what it is, but you still must have a viable venue for that information to be disseminated. I look forward to increased participation by manufacturers and other experts advice that may be coming soon. Certainly Snowest and Harris Publishing stumbled in laying this all out, but I'm sure the upcoming changes are yet to be set in stone. I think there is still plenty of time for all members to give respectful opinions on what they want this forum to be. Again, thanks to all the seasoned 900'ers out there for the information and inspiration you've provided. I'm certain my disposition towards this machine would be completely different without you

The 900 section will still be here, and even if everyone did leave, it would be worth the money for the all the info that has been posted.

Im in!!

Whats a mechanics wage an hour to fix a screw up with my sled because i got no freakin idea what im doing? I think its a little more than what this site is asking for! Also to be able to tap into the minds of people like mountainhorse, kinzer, indydan, and countless others who have helped me with my passion is well worth 4 gallons of gas. Its funny the mentality of some folks, if someone got on here and said a plutonium ion infused johnson rod for your sled would save you 6 lbs and increase 5 hp and cost 600 bucks, we'd all be diggin out the checkbook and tellin the wife things are tough this year so the bathroom renovations gonna have to wait. But 10 bucks to rub elbows with the best of the best in this sport....we say No Way! Just funny, thats all. my 2 bits

Im staying for sure. But this fee is going to throw off the random guy who comes across SnoWest. I can honestly say that if I had to pay to get on this forum the first time I came across it, I would have kept on going and never gotten the chance to experience everything that SnoWest and the members have to offer. So I have a feeling that once we get our set group of current members, the new members coming in are going to go down alot!

-And personally I dont want to stare at Sean's face for the rest of my time here! :0 haha
