I just got the call this morning that my turbo D8 is done. Last spring I was fortunate enough to pick up a 2008 Polaris Dragon 800 155'" for dirt cheap. Sled had 482 miles on it and qualified for the motor updates. So I never even got to ride it on snow. Figured this was a good time to slap on a turbo so I went with the boondocker PG kit. I also decided to go with the 09 front end to shave some weight. My good friend and great mechanic Irv did the install this summer and has just finished. I am going to check it out right now and will post some pictures later. Irv you are the man!!!!!!!!!!!

you will be impressed

:)ran a 08 800 pump gas 163 dragon turbo all last year and was amazed at how well it ran, dependable, and the power band right where you need it, you will surprised how well this setup runs............they got it all dialed in for you.

So I went for my first ride today at Wolf Creek. They had 2 feet and it was dumping, calling for another 2 feet tonight. That aside, first impressons of my sled........................

Initially out of the truck I was getting 3.9 lbs of boost. Egt's in the low 900's pulling 8100 rpm. I turned the boost up to a max of 6.2 lbs and found my egt's went slightly up over 1000 with a max(split second) around 1100. My Koso guages would flash red anytime the egt's got above 950. I would back off at this point and allow the egt's to come down(700-900). I turned my boost back to 5.3 lbs and it seemed to run well. Barely got above 1000 egt.

So, for those of you who are running a D8 turbo.................................. what egt's should I be looking for?
What spark plugs are you running( I am using Br8eix)?

I am confident in my ability to clutch my sled after today so that is not a concern but I am new to egt's and turbos in general.

Insight?..... Remember I ride at 10000k-12000 feet, Thanks!

i run 1210 to 1280 egt's on my D800 with Aero 66. It sometimes will spike to 1300. My sensors are in the Y pipe about 2" away from the engine. Mine is a race gas setup too, so that might make a difference on the EGT's i can run safely.
I run the same spark plug as well.

Do you have any idea what safe egt's are on a PG setup? When the Koso guages flash red, is that a indicator of to much heat? Thanks

EGT's are dependant on where the probes are. I have the KOSO also and if you read the manual for it, it will show you how to adjust the temp when it flashes. I tried to keep mine closer to 1250 WOT, but I was dealing with my fuel filter gremlins. You need to be checking plugs and wash for your baseline.

Should be able to run substantially higher boost than that at your elevation. I was told that I can run at least 8 psi at 6,000' so the higher you go, the higher you can go. I would talk to BD about it but I would guess that you would be safe running 10 psi+ at the altitudes you are riding at.

I will disagree, at least as far as BD is concerned. Their website shows a chart listing alt. and boost levels.
