Hey guys, now the alphas have a few miles on them and it’s not early season , what are most guys riding . I’m looking at a 165 but seriously debating the 154 for the fun factor . Coming off a 162 and looking for some opinions ! Thanks!

If you like your 162 you will probably be happy with the 165. I personally don't care for the 162 and ride 153's. So I was happy I went with the 154.

I rode 162 sleds the last 5 years. Still have my boosted 16 Ltd. I went with a 154 alpha this year. Very fun and capable.

I ride the 154”. It absolutely has the “fun factor”, yet hooks up and pulls like a 162” on the hill. I have yet to ride a 165”, but I’m told that it hooks up like a 174”. I’ve had several 153’s and one 162” that I really loved. This sled rips like a 153” (wheely monster), but hooks up like my 162”.

I have no regrets, and it’s absolutely outcliming any of the longer track sleds around and is a kick in the pants to ride

Cat come with a shorter tunnel like 155 tunnel with 162 track or ''144'' tunnel with 153 track.

Burandt pull the thing a bit more with a 155 tunnel cutting by 4'' on her personal sled.

Wheelie monster. Superchargers a awesome
My buddy had one on 155. Super fun but expensive. Was curious if you could pack enough fuel on super deep days but never got in on that while he had it.

both fun and capable....you don't say where you live and the type of snow you mostly ride in, and therein lies perhaps the most important criteria.....lighter, dryer, higher altitude snow lends itself to a longer track....difficult riding situations in shaded big forests, with steeper ravines, and more exploring where you're going slower as you try to pick lines through unfamiliar territory also lend its' self to a longer track....i ride a 165, my main riding buddy a 154, we both get along fine and both are better traction sleds than anything else we ride with..:face-icon-small-hap

I was a 153” guy and got the 154”. Rented a 165” for a day. I much preferred my 154”. Likely would be better if I did some suspension setup, but didn’t like the longer track and how it made the sled. The 154” has such incredibly amazing traction I’m not sure the 165” would be all that much better giving up a little track speed. Hard to say since it wasn’t side by side in the same day, but bet there’s 2-3+mph track speed difference. If anyone has done side by side on the same hill, would like to hear what you saw.

I ride a 165 and a 154. Perfer the 154 but am looking to supercharge but struggle to deside what one to supercharge. Will the 154 be too hard to control and wheelie too much?

I did see my buddy get out climbed by a stock sled because he didn't hit it until he was already on the hill and was going to flip over backwards. A little bit of a learning curve. Supercharger is hands down the funniest sled I've rode. Would be crazy fun on an alpha. The shorter track is a handful in the trees. Depends on how good of a rider you are.

My boosted 154 WILL NOT hold the front end down. Tried shock pressures, next is limited strap adjustment. 165 is considerably better at the same boost level controlling transfer.

I bought the 165" and so far I have no regrets about track length. It climbs really well and feels fairly nimble the trees. It can wheelie climbing all you want if you hit features just right. Id guess the skis come up on my Alpha more than my 154"summit xm. Prob due to the extra traction. I haven't ridden a 154" alpha yet.

That’s a really interesting thought on a short tunnel. Now if you combine the short tunnel/long track with the Icesge lift kit, you could have a boondocking monster!

Cat already has this combo stock. Might not be as short as Burandts chopped tunnel mod but the 153 tunnel is short. The track sticks out already like the poo with a 163 track on a 155 tunnel. My axys 155 tunnel stuck out much more with the stock poo track compared to cats 153 track and tunnel combo. The stock alpha 154 can already almost wheelie back on top of you, where I could never get my axys to do that, even with boost.

Isn’t the cat set up the 153 track alpha has the 165 tunnel? Can’t remember, I thought both track lengths ran the same tunnel length.
I still haven’t seen any reviews from actual customers in the ice age elevate kit either.
