Colorado newbie

We ride the Snowies and Togwoteee but have never ridden in CO. Have a friend (he is new to the sport) that lives near Black Hawk whom has invited us out to ride.

I am looking for suggestions on good back country riding areas near there?

I know Buff Pass and Grand Mesa areas are good but don't know anything about other riding areas.

Suggestions are appreciated.

Vail Pass is way closer, they have some of the best early season snow I have seen in a long time. Be careful, large slide layers are out there. Make sure you have Avi Gear.
