It looks like about 15 lbs. lighter to me. Reference the 2017 weights posted on snowmobile.com. A 162 mountain cat was 565 lbs completely fueled ready to ride. So, if we add 10.7 gallons of fuel to this '18 Cat at 6.1lbs/gallon we end up right at 550 lbs. The G4 was 552 but only holds 9.5 gallons of fuel so we have to add 6 pounds to its weight which puts it heavier than the new cat wet...all things equal. At least that's what I come up with. A nice improvement.

Actually a G4 165x3 full of all fluids including fuel is 536lbs. Cat still has a ways to go!

I'll take the 15 pounds and get the extra days riding rather than swapping out an s module. A lightweight muffler will get it there anyway.

If cat would just get on the belt drive the -15 lbs would be -25, ya it's not the lightest yet or again but as stated above I'll take it, its a step

The numbers I mentioned were from the snowmobile.com article. I actually observed the weighing of these sleds for the article. The author mentions snow but you can see from the pics it was trace at best. The G4 weighed that day was 552. 536 is almost down to the belt drive Axys? Regardless, there won't be much weight separating the '18 model sleds unless DOO and POO release some more loss in a couple weeks. 20 pounds isn't worth talking about imo.

You been drinking?

Mountain dew maybe. Never seen the guy ever have a beer. Prob going without sleep for 48hrs straight like always lol.

But they do need to drop more hood weight. Intake and headlights would have been an easy fix. Cans are always heavy from manufactures. I dont ever see them going ti. The 18s will still be sweet though. Just hope the lw shafts hold up.

M8onEdge, I own a 16 M8000 Ltd 162, a 17 MC 162, and just yesterday sold my 17 G4 165 which full of fuel, ready to ride weighed on my local butchers scale came in at 536.4... the same results snowest came up with. That being said I hated the way it handled, and love the new MC. I will be adding a 18 cat to my fleet as well. Glad I was able to sell my G4 before having to do a bunch of repairs after running over a rose pedal.

Lets not forget to add 12.2 pounds to the weight of the G4 to make up for the 2 gallons of gas they don't hold that the Cat does, that makes it 548.6. Then how much oil does the res in the doo hold, is it as much as the cat? So there is probably another 3-4 pounds difference there. This is why sleds should be weighed dry, smaller gas tanks and oil res. don't help anyone but manufacturers trying to make their sleds look lighter than they are. So looks like Cat isn't the fat lady at the dance anymore:)

So Country Cat weight the 17 and 18 both full of fluids. 545lbs on 18. 556lbs on 17. Difference of 11lbs.

rkm what do you mean the early releases don't have all the lw goodies? what did they leave off?

If that's the case I'd be real tempted to just get a holdover MC. Let them work out the bugs if any with the new motor.
