04 Mountain Cat, I can see the float has come off the metal runner it is supposed to sit on and is now floating at the top of the tank. Is there a drop in replacement unit? If so, how does it seal to the tank and how do I remove the old unit? Thanks.

We just don't run with the covers on the tanks. You can make a mark on the tank at various levels, much more reliable than the gauge. I've never seen one that read even close to correct, and when they say empty, you've got at least a third of a tank left.

Yes, the gauge on these tanks r pretty much worthless as far as telling u how much fuel remains. When down to 3/4 a tank my sleds have only used around a gallon. When mine reads empty it still has five gallons left. We just look at the clear tank to see how much remains. The gas gauge is replacable and is P/N 1670-241. It is a press fit with a o ring.
