Yes, your belt to sheave side clearance should be .010-.020

What secondary are you using? TSS98, TSS04, Tied?

I ran the Black/Purple driven spring in my 08 D8 163, 3 delrin washers, 62-42E.36 Helix in my TSS04 with 2 .070 thick spring washers reducing my initial angle from .46 to .36

The sled ripped

If you haven't looked into it you might want to check out Ron's modified weights for the primary.

I wouldn't worry about reshimming your primary until after installing the MTX weights since they have a higher heel profile which might tighten up your belt to sheave clearance. Goodluck with your set up, I've had a lot of luck running the MTX weights in my sleds.
