Testing the temp sending unit

Alright,
So when I pulled the engine,
To replace the water pump shaft,
I didnt alighn the oil pump.

So I did that and it runs alot better now.
But backfires,
Bogs,
And still loses power after a couple minutes.

Where is this sending unit?Seems logical to try out any and all suggestions.

Someone suggested 440 CDI box isnt matched up with the 600 flywheel.
(As in the CDI boc I got with the 600, might be the wrong one).
How might I be able to confirm this?

Sending unit is in the top of the head, brass fitting with 2 wire pig tail.

Remove it and do this test with an OHM meter:

1) 68* F (room temp) 2432 ohs (+/- 250 ohms)

2) 212 * F (Boiling water) 192 ohms (+/- 30 ohms)

Tested the coolant sensor.
Was way low on the Ohms.
Bought a totally brand new one.
Still sputters and back fires and loses power.

I was looking around and found the cord that goes from the ECU,
To the TPS was kinda "ripped".
New one is $150.
So I want to know if this could be the problem before I buy a new one.

Still lookin for anymore suggestions and imput.
I appreciate all the help so far.

Thanks for the imput everyone.
Went back to the basics.
Followed the coolent temp harness back,
And found the wire was frayed and grounding to the carbs.
Replaced it,
And sled runs perfect.

Thanks again.
