Your pricing is off. This is per the Ski Doo catalog:

Sliders w vespel inserts 503194815 $84.99 each.

So 2 would be $169.98 total.

What can happen is they will wear to about 50% then the wear will slow down significantly and it will only be specific areas, also for 1400 miles that is pretty decent and depends on snow conditions.

Been riding mountain sleds for decades with thousands of miles and can't remember the last time I changed a pair of hifax. Also remember, those things need to be tempered. When they are new, run down the trail and get them hot almost until you smell them, then get in some powder and cool them off. They get hard and will last a long time.

Tempering hyfax is a myth. Many factory and aftermarket manufacturer tests have proven that. We all need to stop recommending this (seems like in every singlle hyfax thread it gets brought up) and stop passing along the misinformation.

1,400 miles and down to 50%

Really do not see a problem here.

Can only suggest being diligent about packing the track with snow so the hi fax are lubricated.

Exactly, 1400 is good to be at 50% wear. Ive blown through a set in a day when things were solid ice.

Doing hyfax every other season at a cost of around $70 for stock hyfax seems super reasonable?

Best thing you can do is purchase 2 sets of anti stab wheel kits. Less drag longer hifax life adds strength to the rear skid. Only time I buy hifax is when the sled goes up for sale.

Where can you buy those?

The g4 comes from the factory with an anti stab wheel kit on the front of the skid. Are you mounting the other ones as extra bogey wheels on the rails, to support the track?

The g4 already has an anti stab wheel kit on the front of the skid. Are you mounting the other ones as bogey wheels on the rails, to support the track? I'd be interested in doing the same if it substantially improves cooling and hyfax wear.
Its pretty common to do this. I have done it using some IceAge 2 wheel anti-stabs like the oem doo ones and mounting them midway down the rails, this way you get the added benefit of the cross shaft bracing the rails as well as more wheels.

Extra wheels

They didn't used to come with the anti stab now that they do I only need 2 extra. I bought a couple sets back in 2012 still using them passing from sled to sled. Bent welded / stripped bolt holes drill&trap / electrical conduit for spacers. They still work great and save a lot of time&money. Never ran ice scratcher never liked them, but I love wheels never can have enough.
