Quick Drive gear down with Pro pulleys.

Axys pulleys are 22/43. Final gear ratio of 2.22:1

Pro pulleys are 21/44. If you put those on an Axys you get a final drive of 2.39:1. Yes this works, we have been running them on 4 sleds (3 of which are boosted 10psi at 6000').

Question is, has anyone put on the Pro top gear with the Axys bottom gear? This gets you to 2.32:1. The belt would be a little loose, so you'd likely have to run an aftermarket tensioner. This would be ideal for us turbo guys since we are geared too high stock and too low with Pro pulleys.

Im running the pro pulleys. Its a nice cheap way to gear the sled down. I'm happy with it, but i'm not boosted either.

Eric, are you getting more consistent rpms and did u gain any track speed on a powdered hill with the pro gears vs axys?
I was under the impression that a stock axys was geared lower than pro.

It's good to hear that this works well and supports the info that RichRacer posted last season...Especially for my bud Murph !

However
The 22/44 combo (AXYS-top, ProRide-bottom) would NOT be too loose... It would be too TIGHT for the belt...so I'd say you would have a heck of a time getting the belt on...You would be adding almost 2mm to the combined radius compared to the matched pairs.

The AXYS VS the PRO gear combo... the numbers crunch to having the Pro Gears on the AXYS being a Red-Hair tighter on the belt...but just a couple thou... as long as my algebra is not too rusty.

The ratios that I come up with are:
22/43=1.95:1 [AXYS Pulleys]
21/44=2.09:1 [ProRide Pulleys}
22/44=2.0:1 [Hybrid]

No 'comparative' ratio is needed as you are not changing the diameter of the drivers on your sled...right?
Actual ratio is all you need IMO.

Yes sorry. Pro top pulley and Axys bottom gear. I did the math right but typed the wrong combo!

Also, Axys belt is 2 teeth longer than the Pro belt. I don't have one to check, but MAYBE you can put the Pro belt on with that combinations of pulleys.

19/44 = 2.32
I really liked that ratio, some people think its too low but for technical stuff and stop, turn, climb riding it was great.

You run the axys belt with the pro pulleys. The belt ends up just ever so slightly tighter then the stock set up. Eric

The axys belt drive is geared up, but they also switched from 8 tooth to 7 tooth drivers so the end result is the axys final drive ratio is lower then the Pro. Its kind of confusing.

As for track speed and RPM.... I did gain some track speed. I tested a couple times last weekend and was seeing 46mph track speed. RPM.... not sure on that one. Still not real happy with the performance of my 17. It wont pull near as much weight as my 16 did :face-icon-small-dis

The Gates carbon belt helps a lot for consistent RPM. Eric

I see a real 42 mph without any air time just pure climbing on a 155 , so 46 if is a honest number than thats an improvement to me.
Wats ur eleavation and are u stock?

Final gearing is very critical, to put it in perspective I did a MPH chart.
8500 RPM
7 tooth 2.86 pitch
1:1 clutch ratio
1.95:1 (22/43) 82.45mph
2.00:1 (22/44) 80.57mph
2.047:1 (21/43) 78.7mph
2.09:1 (21/44). 76.91mph

TRS Turbo PRO
8250 RPM
8 tooth 2.86 pitch
1:1 clutch ratio
Chain case 20-46 gearing
77.72mph

You can read your primary clutch to get a feel for where you are riding most of the time.

Stock pulleys and deeper snow: Notice the dark streak about 1/3 the way up the sheave. (Not the rubber in the bottom, that's from loading on the sled deck wrong)

Pro pulleys in more setup snow (faster riding): Dark streak has moved nearly all the way out. I need to bring that back down a bit.

got a pair on the way, i'll report back when I ride with them, I've always geared down 1 or 2 teeth on my chaincase sleds so i'm expecting it will work well

Pro gearing, then If it all works well i'll more than likely go with the TKI belt drive kit, they have been flawless on my friends boosted stuff, just a good design
