Installing Throttle cable on 2000 Rmk 700

I just purchased a new throttle cable for my 2000 Rmk 700 and was wondering what is the best way to sync the carbs. I know that for the oil pump has two tick marks that need to be lined up but i do not know how to set the carbs back up. The guy at the local dealer said that i needed a carb sync tool. Is this the only way? Any feedback would help. Thanks

No, it isn't the only way to set them up. See this thread. Jay gives a good explanation as to how to do it or read the text file I included if you want to use another method. Either way you end up with the carbs synced. The thread is about Mikuni carbs but Keihin carbs use the same procedure.
